Selecting the hatch by clicking it.... PL get selected as well

HI, for the past few days, each time that I try to select a hatch (to change scale or layer...) the associated PL is selected as well,,.. eventhough I didn't click it. This is really annoying since I need to go to the properties, and choose hatch on top, so I can edit the way I want... Any ideas why the PL is part of the selection? How can I change that?
