Read only type file

Hi!! Just have a question... In our company we use Google Drive in order for our employees around the world to have access to our files.
We are wondering if there is any way that we would be able to save our drawings in a read-only type file, so that while we are working on a drawing, our colleagues can still access it for consultation, but that we can still be able to continue working on the file and save the updates.
(Saving the .dwg as a .dwf does not work since it blocks us from being able to work on the file.)
Presently we are just creating a folder for the file we are working on, so that our colleagues know not to modify it....but this still is causing mistakes.
