Automatic Hidden lines

Lets say I have a rectangle with a line passing through it and this line is suppose to be behind the rectangle. Is there a way to have AutoCAD recognize this line is behind this rectangle and make the correct portion of the line a hidden line? I want the line to remain in 1 peice, not 3 (left of rectangle, inside rectangle, right of rectangle).
