Apeture won't change

And before you ask, yes I mean aperture and not pickbox.

I am trying to reduce the sensitivity of osnaps by changing the aperture. However, no matter how big or small I make the setting, my snaps are still way too sensitive. I can move my crosshairs across a whole line that's 48 inches long and I can only snap to an endpoint or midpoint (I want to just snap somewhere along the line). I have tuned on the option that shows the aperture, and it's definitely changing astetically, however the behavior of osnaps have not changed
