I've read through the many posts on these forums about the user profiles (.arg), but I am still confused.
How do these things work?
We use Civil3D, but I think this is a AutoCAD issue rather than Civil3D issue.
This is what we do currently. On a Standards drive on our network, we have a profile we created for 2013. When 2013 was first installed, everyone was told to import this .arg file. We then set this profile current, delete the default profile called <<C3D_Imperial>> and rename our customized .arg file <<C3D_Imperial>>. If we don't rename it, AutoCAD either creates a new one when it reopens or in one instance, completely replaced Civil3D with regular AutoCAD when I tried to open C3D.
I've read a lot on these forums about the target path which is ""C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013\acad.exe" /ld "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013\AecBase.dbx" /p "<<C3D_Imperial>>" . I am guessing this is why it recreates a <<C3D_Imperial>> profile when the software opens if one does not exist.
Should this target path be changed to the network location? If so, do I need to have an acad.exe and AecBase.dbx file in the network location?
What if we changed the name of the profile in the target path from <<C3D_Imperial>> to whatever custom name we wanted to use for our profile? Could we then just import the .arg file from the network location and not have to worry about renaming it in Options?
Also, we have a couple of people who use laptops, and their profiles keep resetting. I don't know if it has to do with this target path or something else.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
