Problem updating Performance Tuner update

I'm attempting to update the Performance Tuner. When I click 'Check for Updates' - 'Update now' the following error occurs:

Performance tuner failed to update. Please check your network connection and make sure you have write permission to the file. 

The internet connection is good, the file is not read-only, and I am logged in as an administrator. Has anyone encountered this?
