The incredible shrinking floating command line

Has anyone solved the receding command line? It appears to have been a problem since 2013?? I have only just migrated to 2015 from release 2011, and I have not been able to locate any success stories in the forums. I like the extra real estate you get by using the floating command line, but every time I start/open a dwg, it's length gets reduced, until finally it is so short the command prompts/history starts to wrap. This makes it distracting and difficult to read. I tried using acad.pgp to setvar workspace, which seems to reset the command length every time you reset the workspace, but when opening a dwg, it forces the dwg to a sheet tab even if it was saved on the model tab. So now I have two identical workspaces defined using different names, so I can toggle between them when the command line gets too short. Cheers!Image may be NSFW.
