Converting 2010 AutoCAD file to R14 DWG or R14 DXF, lineweights not preserved
Hi, I am new to the forum. I know Release 14 is practically ancient history at this point and I may not be able to get help on converting files to that format from AutoCAD 2010 but would appreciate any help you could give on the matter.
I am trying to convert some simple 2D drawings to R14 from 2010 so I can plot them to a old school pen plotter. R14 was the last version to support the native ADI driver for the pen plotter. As a simple example I tried converting the line weights test file found here: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-sample-files.html
When I save the file as a R14 (R12) DXF and open the same file back in 2010 all the line weights are gone so does that version of DXF not support line weights?
When I save the 2010 file as a R14 DWG and open the R14 DWG file back in 2010 all the line weights are preserved but when I open the R14 DWG file in R14 I get a "Proxy entities" error message which I took a screen capture of in the attachment picture. Once I click okay on the error the drawing loads but the line weights are not present.

Annotation Scale Paperspace
So whenever I export my Civil3D drawing to Acad the Annotation Scale in the paper space is still set to 1:1000 and i can't load my templates because they are way to small. I don't know why but in older drawings where i used exacte the same Civil3D drawing template and exported them to Acad the Annotation scale in the paperspace have always been set to 1:1

circle packing algorithm
Hi,
I am looking to create a geometry consisting of hexagonally packed spheres along the interior walls of a closed cylinder (ie. along end walls and azimuthal walls). It does not have to be optimal, so where the end walls meet the azimuthal wall there is some leniency, but there can be no overlap of the spheres. I am a relatively new AutoCAD user, so I am wondering if
a) there is code already generated which will hexagonally pack circles/spheres within a surface, or
b) if AutoCAD is the best program to use for something so mathematically technical. If not, does anyone have a suggestion as to which program will be able to accomplish this project?

Multileader movement
Hi all,
I'm relatively new to Auto Cad. I'm running AutoCad 2011.
I've been annotating my drawings using multileaders quite happily for a while now. Recently I'm noticing that when I come back to a drawing I've finished with, the multileader arrows have mysteriously moved of their own accord.
The text part of the multileader is remaining in the same place, it's just the arrow that moves position.
I've checked that there is no interference by a third party and that no objects have been moved in the drawing.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

‘Longbow Software’ for installing earlier version of AutoCAD on Windows 8.1
In browsing the internet, I came across a program call ‘Longbow Software’ which is supposed to allow earlier versions of AutoCAD (AutoCAD 2001 thru 2009) to install and run on Windows 8.1. Has anyone used this program?
If so, what is your experience and does it work?

Plotters.....
We currently have a Xerox 510 wide format plotter. We are in the market for a new wide format plotter and was hoping to get some feedback on other plotters. The 510 has 3 drawings and I think is produces 5D per minutes.
We will be looking into OCE and KIP, another manufacturer was also proposed to us. It is called Teriostar, which is made by Sieko.
We would also like a plotter that doubles as a copier.
Could I get some feedback on what you are all using. Pro's and Con's for the plotter.
Any input is appreciated

PLOTTIGN TO PDF
Hi, may be a simple mistake of human error, but when i try to plot dwg to pdf my layout shows in print preview however my signle view port doesnt. please can somebody help me. viewports print fine on a4 a3 a1 but not in pdf

PC3 File Not Recognized on Windows Restart
We came into the office this morning and found out that Windows had installed a number of updates on our file/print server. When we tried to print to our plotter, the .pc3 file (located on the network) was not working. I tried to roll back the updates, but that didn't work, so I restored the server and one of the client computers back to March 22 using a disk image (clean OS wipe). At this point, they should have both been back in the state they were in before the updates, but printing still did not work, which makes no sense to me.
What did work was deleting the plotter (HP T610 24" wide plotter) from the client machines and then reinstalling it on them. That continues to work until the client computer is restarted. After the restart, the only way for the .pc3 file to be recognized by AutoCAD for that plotter is to delete and reinstall it on each client machine.
The .pc3 files for our other printers remain unaffected and are working as expected.
I'm running AutoCAD 2015, but I had a similar issue with AutoCAD 2014 before that was never fully resolved. In fact, that issue is why we have a March 22 disk image.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue before or have any idea on why this might be happening? Thanks!

stacking fractions in multiline attributes
How do I stack fractions in multiline attributes? For life of me, I cannot figure this out. I have about 6 attributes that I have blocked together, and one of them is a multiline attribute. I want to change this one to show fractions stacked diagonally. When I type regular multiline text outside of attributes, it will stack them automatically.![]()

Visual studio and visual basic get properties

In school I left an exercise in visual Basic and AutoCAD and need help,
The problem is that I need to do to get the properties to click a wall for example, what is the height, broad and then do things like operations.
The bad is that it's my first time doing this kind of development with AutoCAD, I would greatly appreciate if you help me step by step :robotsurprised:

Autocad 2015 Unable to see polyline when pulling in the direction it needs to go
This really has me baffeled !
Autocad 2015 64bit
Win 7 64bit AMD firepro 3900
This particular file ONLY !
When drawing a polyline I do not "See" the line as I pull away I do see + as start point.
I can end the command and see the line, so I'm not on a frozen layer.
If I draw a "Line" I DO see the line as I pull away
See if anyone can confirm this on the attached drawing.

Autocad 2015 file Preview in Windows 7
I just upgraded from Autocad 2014 to Autocad 2015. Every .dwg file I open and save with Autocad 2015 loses its thumbnail preview in windows 7.
Thumbnail preview settings are checked in Options, THUMBSAVE is set to 1, and I have tried the popular solutions from the Autodesk Support Forums (installed DWG Trueview, made sure PreviewVisible is set to 1 in the REGISRTY EDITOR), but no joy.
I realize the thumbnail preview is not a major component of working with Autocad, but for large drawing folders the preview makes finding the correct drawing much faster.
As a note, the .dwg files are still set to save in a AutoCad 2013 drawing format (as was the case with Autocad 2014), so I don't know why upgrading to 2015 would have caused this issue with windows 7.

I am having a problem with my Autocad 2012. I am trying to add a button trough the "customize user interface" (dragging a button from the list to the work space) and as soon as my mouse leaves the user intercace, the following error comes up:
Now, some (maybe) important information : This computer is also running Microvellum Toolbox 67.
Any idea?

2015 UCS Issue
I have just installed AutoCad 2015 to test it out and have come across this problem. I drew a simple box with a hole in it in the WCS. I rotated the UCS along the X axis by 90 degress. Started the line command, snap to the corner of the box (3D snap vertex is running) and the "dynamic line preview" is locked to the WCS until I click an endpoint - then the line is drawing correctly in the UCS, but the "next continuing" line is still locked on the WCS until I click another endpoint. I'm really hoping this is just a simple setting I have missed somewhere, otherwise I will have to uninstall and go back to 2014 as we do all of our drawings in 3D. I have attached a video to show what is happening.

Import SRTM data into AutoCAD Architecture as contour lines
Hello experts, I am new here and need the help in a question. There was no satisfying answer to find in the search. I need SRTM data in my AutoCAD Architecture 2013 as contour lines. According to this forum it is possible to load these into AutoCAD, unfortunately only for Civil3D or Map. I already managed to convert the original .hgt into DEM data. I attached the "Test DEM.tif" here. But now I have no idea how to go on. Can anyone give me a manual please? Thanks a lot Didi![]()

File will not save -then original file is lost
I have been having multiple issues with saving my drawing files in AutoCAD 2013. My computer was replaced at work on 3/13/14 and at that time AutoCAD 2013 was installed. Prior to that I was using Version 2010 with no issues. When trying to save my drawing, I receive different messages, such as "One or more objects in this drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created.", or "Drawing file is write protected." I am unable to save my file even when I change the name of my drawing. Finally after multiple times of trying, it appears that my drawing is finally saved, but then when I reopen AutoCAD to work on my file again, I receive the message, "Drawing file is not valid." Worst of all, the drawing file is now blank. Nothing was saved and my original drawing is now gone. This has happened on three seperate drawing files now. The drawing files are not new. They are my base maps that I use as a starting point for all my projects. What could be causing this issue?
