Text in Layout and Model
Hi there!
I tweeted at your AutoCAD account and was directed to this website!
I always seem to have an issue when matching text in model and layout space. For my ssignments the text needs to be at 1/8" in model space, however in layout space, it needs to be at 1/4", I was told by my professor to go to properties and add and match the scale to what it is in model space. The issue is that every viewport is at a different scale, and each time I match the scales to that in the model space the size of the fonts I get are not the same size throughout the layout. I'm attaching pictures with the properties showing and you can see that the size of the text is not all consistent. The tags with the numbers are in Layout Space, all other text is in model space.
P.S. Really sorry but it isn't allowing me to add more than three images so they're going to appear in this message. Also, it'd be really great if you had a number I could call you at or maybe do screen sharing. Please let me know.

Excel data link changes width and height when updating my AutoCAD
I have excel 2010 and have been running a data link with my AutoCAD 2013 for a few years now. I have a rather large Data Link to the Model Space in cad and a few days ago the width and height has changed. This has created total anarchy with the autofil on all of my pages.
Any clue on what i have done?

Import Step File

I work with AutoCAD civil 3d as AutoCad 2014 and I'm trying to import a step file.
Thing is that I don't have step file as an option in my import file window.

Command file
For a time ago I wrote something like this in order to change color of a layer in many CAD files:
(Command "open" "File namn1" "_layer" "Color" 8 "layername" "qsave" Close")
(Command "open" "File namn2" "_layer" "Color" 8 "layername" "qsave" Close")
(Command "open" "File namn3" "_layer" "Color" 8 "layername" "qsave" Close")
.
.
These rows were saved in a file and could be loaded and run.
But I do not remember is what kind of file it should be saved and how to load it into Autocad!
I used MAP but now using C3D.
Another problem is a system variable called SDI, what is that?
I know this could be done in other ways but this solution worked for me and I rather continue using it!

General Segment Label thick border
I have a client using ACAD 2012 that is referencing my topo file which contains contour labels (General Segment Label). I am using C3D 2012. On my client's machine, the borders for the labels are showing up extremely thick; however, on my computer (regular ACAD and C3D) the borders show up correctly. This also apparently happens with the existing contour labels, where the border is not supposed to show. I'm guessing this must be some type of frame on the background mask, since it is showing up on both label styles. Any ideas on how to get the labels to show correctly?

Network Failure Error
Hi. I am an italian student, so sorry for my bad english. During the installation the launcher shows error "Network Failure". I would download Autocad 2014 free for student, but everytime there is this error. How can i resolve this problem? Thanks!

Looking for an Autolisp that places blocks
I am looking for an Autolisp that will place a block on multiple vertices of an object. For instance, I create a lot boundary and then wish to select the polyline and place a block representing the boundary pins on all of the corners at the same time.

Object Snap not working with Viewports
Currently, I have two drawings open. In one drawing I can snap to the midpoint, endpoint, etc... of the viewport object in all paperspace tab's. yet in the other drawing I cannot.
The drawings were started from the same template.
The profiles used are exactly the same.
The viewports are on the "VPORT" layer in both drawings, and the layer is not locked.
All the properties of the viewports in the drawings match, with exception to exact center, size and shape.
OSMODE is set to 47 in both drawings and OSNAP is on.
I have no problem snapping to any other object in paperspace (or model) space in both drawings.
I have restarted my computer, restarted CAD, recovered both drawings, opened the drawings in two different CAD session and in the same CAD session in windows.
I have researched the knowledge base for this issue and have not found a solution.
Is there some property characteristic or SetVariable I am missing?
Any solutions OTHER than dumping the "broken" drawing or copying everything to a new drawing?

Converting “merged” hatches to separate,
Converting “merged” hatches to separate,
I got a number of hatches (attached) that are drawn while the “separate hatches” option is unchecked. I wanted to get them separate by selecting them and then checking the “separate hatches” but it appears not to work
What might be the issue here?

Autocad 2015 on Microsoft Surface Pro
I recently installed 2015 on my Surface Pro tablet and it runs amazing well as long as I use a mouse. Over the years, I've grown accustom to utilizing my keyboard for nearly all my commands so trying to use cad without it has been a bit challenging.
Today, I tried using cad without a mouse or keyboard just to see if it was possible. I noticed an option in the ribbon for Tablet mode was already enabled. I started to draw a polyline and soon realized I didn't know how to end the command. After scratching my head, I opened the software keyboard and hit enter to end the PL command which was rather tedious.
Can someone tell me if there is an easier way to end a command in cad using nothing but the tablet screen? Also, if anyone else has any tips on working with a tablet, I'm all ears.

PDF title block shifted to the right when printing
I am having a bit of a problem with our PDF title block. We created a Graphic Title Block for Schematic Design and xref'd it into our Project. It looks fine, and centered, in Paper space. When we try to print it, the whole drawing shifts to the right. Any ideas on why? Thanks in advance!

Loss of Functionaility with Saving Down?
I have some users that are wanting to set their machines to save down from 2014 to 2004. It is strictly for drawings being sent to outside shops that we do business with. Mentality is to set them all to save down now, and save a step later in conversions. Personally, I think the outside shops need an upgrade. I even made them aware of the DWG Cnnvert tool to batch the entire process. Anyways...is there a list somewhere or a site that shows any loss of functionality between version 2014 and 2004? I know...it is crazy.

SSGET
i've been looking for a way to get QSELECT functionality in an automated form (like Actions) so i can select hatches with a particular pattern and flip them to a new pattern, but i'm having problems understanding the syntax of SSGET.
looking at the help page:
they give the syntax as:
(ssget [sel-method] [pt1 [pt2]] [pt-list] [filter-list])
but then the examples all suggest something more like (ssget "[sel-method]" '([pt1 [pt2]] [pt-list] [filter-list]))
what's the syntax for filter lists? i want to select all hatches with pattern DOTS (and then change to pattern SOLID). any help??

How to edit tables
Hi:
I have a previously titleblock that is based in a group of tables. Now I want to edit according to the client needs and I want to change cell height size, cell width size, cell distribution etc.
As far as I can see AutoCAD allows me only to change a couple of features, so I am wondering how to edit according to my needs either in site or exporting to Excel and then doing the changes there
I am sending a screen shot of whatever I have now..

Network License setup help please - error 15.570.0
I am installing a network license Revit Architecture Suite 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop 64 bit. I have my license file generated by AutoDesk. Revit starts fine, but AutoCAD & Architecure continually give me the error "A valid license could not be obtained by the network license manager -15.570.0. I went thrrough all the online help pages trying to solve this, and have gotten nowhere. I am not IT savvy, the IT/Administrator speak on these forums is like Greek to me. I'm a user and need help fixing this so I can use the software. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Drawing Breakout

Hi all.
I'm wondering if someone out there can help me increase my productivity with some quick code or custom commands.
I'm not that familiar with diesel, macro's or lisp (Yet), so I'll try anything right now.
Here's the problem:
I'm doing multiple drawings (100+ so far), each with 10-20 layouts. Once the dwg is approved, the dwg must be broken out into individual files, with one dwg and it's associated layout in each file. (Example attached)
File names are like this (always similar) ABCD-EF-GHIJK-11-222-3333-001. The last 3 numbers are all that change, and they are sequential.
(Note, it doesn't matter if each file has everything after breakout, since I have to PDF them individually anyway (see request #2 below) , so I have to go back into them and delete a lot of stuff),(although it would be great if only the appropriate layout remained in each broken out file).
If it helps, I give my Tab Names the same as the last 3 numbers of the sheet, which is also the last 3 digits of the file name (ie. 001, 002, etc).
Prior to the actual breakout, I'd like to run:
1. Purge All (twice) (since one time doesn't usually do it)
2. Zoom Extents all Layout(s)
3. Save All
4. Create new files (in a location I specify. They all go into the same folder)
As for my second (separate) command, I'd like to be able to (from Model Space), (which I would run on each of the broken out files):
I will open a file, delete all the unnecessary stuff and then run:
1. Change to and Zoom Extents Layout(s)
2. Purge All (twice)
3. Save All
4. Batch Plot
From here, I take control and select the file locations, etc.
I know it sounds like a lot to ask, but any help is greatly appreciated.
