commands losing it funtions in R14

I'm using R14.  I'm using default commands (overkill, Match Prop, Prop., and Find).  I'll use these commands all the time without any problems then all of sudden it becomes an unknown command one day.  Anything I do it is still an unkown command.  It's like that command does not exist.  I'll brought in an old profile to rebuild my icons - mind you these are all dault commands - All those commands will work.  About a week later same thing happen and the same commands stop working.  Then I have to go through an old profile once again and rebuild it and then it will work.  I've gone through this process twice. Does anybody kowns how to fix this issue?

3D Modeling: Hydraulic Hose

I am using AutoCAD 2014. I'm looking for a way to create flexible hydraulic hose. This hose will not need to be modified once it is made.

I'm aware there is a useful tool which accomplishes this in Inventor Professional; however we have Inventor Fusion 2013 R1 so I don't believe this is available.

 

Has anyone found a way to neatly model bent hose in 3D? I see there are many apps for AutoCAD; perhaps there is one that I have overlooked which will accomplish this? If not, there must be some way to do it using fairly basic commands. Any insight is appreciated - thanks!

Is it beneficial to install AutoCAD onto the SSD?

Is there much benefit to installing AutoCAD software onto the SSD? I understand that with games there is not enough benefit to make it worth it to install them on the more expensive SSD, so one puts them the regular HD instead, is this true for AutoCAD also?

Arrowheads not filled

Every month or so one of my AUtoCad 2014 files will not keep its arrowheads filled. The DIMSTYL setting is set as filled. But, my dims. and leaders loose their fill when I use grips to adjust them. And most of the time I'm not doing anything; and they 'go blank'. Only closing and reopening the drawing seems to work; but only temporarily.

Embedded OLE Object not printing or very poor quality in Autocad 2013LT

Hello everyone,

 

I wanted to find out if there was a solution to this because I've had a very hard time trying to solve the issue. We recently upgraded to new computers and software. The older computer had Autocad 2006 LT installed and an HP Designjet HP 1050c plotter as the plotter. Both worked as they should have and we had no issues printing autocad drawings with embedded OLE Objects that were created in Adobe Photoshop CS2. The reason we embedded them as oppose to link them was for convenience of emailing the drawings out. It is difficult or rather not desired to email x-references and other files together with the autocad drawing because that information could be lost if someone were to not copy the x-references, etc, so we embed them.

 

Currently with the new computers we have installed Autocad 2013 LT and I have migrated all the settings and drivers to the new computer. The new computer also has the same HP Designjet 1050c plotter installed with it and it works. So far we have not had issues with that. Now the real problem we are having is that in the new Autocad 2013 LT when we plot those drawings with the embedded OLE objects created in photoshop they either do not plot or they plot with very poor quality so much so it is unreadable. We usually plot using grey tones and I noticed that this is not an issue if we print in color for some reason. The strange thing is that we also installed Autocad 2006 LT in the same computer and it has no issues plotting in grey tones, but in 2013 LT it does. So I am not sure what is wrong. I have tried different drivers for the plotter, increasing the plot quality and nothing works unless I use color. You might be asking we don't we just use color, the reason is the plotter is a lot slower when we do and some times time is of the essence so we just change to grey tone because it plots a lot faster with almost the same quality except that it is in grey tones. So here I am asking for help because I just cannot pin point what is the issue. I do not believe it is the plotter or the new computer, I feel like it could be a setting in Autocad 2013 LT that I am missing or have off, etc. So any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Sheet Set Drawing List No Revision Number Link

Is it just me or can you not map any of the revision number, revision date etc. for each sheet to the sheet list table?

 

Really annoying, i guess add it to the Autocad Development Minefield.

AutoCAD 2015 System Requirements?

My PC: i5 3470, 8gb ram, windows 7 64-bit. I am going to upgrade to xeon e3 1230 v2, but both of them don't have EM64T. They have SSE2 technology. Can my PC run autocad 2015 64-bit well? I'm using autocad 2008.

Solution for pdf to cad

Good Morning,

My name is Bijoy Working in a Mechanical Design Engineering Firm in Bahrain (Ramsis Engineering). We are facing a problem that is, from our client’s side getting so many PDF format drawings. We have to convert this drawing to AUTOCAD format (Dwg or DXF) also this converted drawings should be not in a exploded form. We tried some other software’s but all of that output coming as exploded format (exploded format means all dimensions and lines are separate segments). If anybody have any software solution for this issue let us know the details please.

Your immediate response will be highly appreciated.

CTRL+V is pasting as a block

Hi, 

 

   I am working on AutoCAD 2015, I have always used the CTRL+V and CTRL+C commands for copy/paste and I have never had this problem.

When I copy using CTRL+C and paste using CTRL+V, it automatically pastes as a block, even if I copy a simple line, it will past it as a block... if I use the command CO for copy then this doesn't happen, it actually pastes normally. Now this would all be ok, I would simply use CO when I need to, but the thing is, that I do a lot of copy pasting from other files and from model to layout and I find it much easier to use the keyboard commands thus I would like to fix this. I have also tried audit, purge and Wblock and none of them worked.

   When I open a new file this isn't a problem and if I try to use this file on another autocad-another computer I get the same problem so I presume that the problem is in the file itself. 

 

 Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Accroche au hachure définie par l'utilisateur

Bonjour,

 

Nous nous tournons vers vous car nous nous trouvons dans l'impossibilité d'effectuer une commande :

Quand nous créons une hachure "définie par l'utilisateur", à dire une hachure double avec une échelle de 60 pour dessiner des faux-plafonds par exemple, nous avons besoin d'accroche aux intersections des hachures pour insérer des luminaires.

Dans les versions d'Autocad précédantes nous avions juste à aller dans les propriétés et décocher la case " ignorer les objets hachures" pour y arriver. Maintenant sur la version 2015 cela ne fonctionne plus, nous trouvons "accroche à des milieux", etc.... mais pas aux intersections).

Merci par avance de nous informer de la manipulation à effectuer.

rotating rotated 3d modelling objects

Ive made a 3d modelling for interior furniture. the shape is simple but has many ways of rotation. ive been trying to make it back straight like when i opened up the autocad. i need to make it straight back like 0 degrees to x or y or z. its been too many 3d models ive made on this file, and theyre not straight so it makes me difficult to continue my work cause i cannot easily rotate my objects in a simple directions. any help?

SSM Imports Sheets In Reverse Order

AutoCAD 2015 SP1.  Anyone else seeing the SSM import sheets in reverse order?

 

Due to the new layout tab placement we can no longer drag/drop layouts into the SSM. The only choice is to use the Import Layout As Sheet right click option. Using that option imports the sheets in reverse order. See the attached image.

 

Top portion clearly shows the layouts in the order I expect them to be imported. The bottom image shows the order after importing. They should match. They don’t. Please fix.

Need assistance with recover .dwg file.?

This morning I tried to open an Autocad 2006 dwg file and I got a message saying that there was a problem with my file and that I had to try to recover it using the RECOVER command. 
 
When I did this, I got the following message: “Reading Handle 171763 Object type AcDbHatch. Error 13 (eUnknown handle) object discarded”. 
 
10 seconds later Autocad crashes! 
 
I noticed that the error had something to do with hatches so I tried to open my file partially leaving out my hatch layers. The problem is that when I try to open my file partially Autocad opens a new blank drawing and does not even open the window where I can choose my layers. Does anybody know of a way to recover my file or is it lost forever?

Is there a way to dock the toolbars above the drawing tabs?  A co-worker likes them they way they were above the drawing tabs.

SSM Archive and eTransmit failing (oddly)

I've been using the Archive function of SheetSet Manager for a while to take submittal snapshots of the drawings.  Today -- and damifino what's happened, Archive is not grabbing all the files and zipping them up.  The file Tree/file list shows all the DWGs, and xrefs, and the c3d dependency files, but only a few of the sheet files are being zipped, and the directory structure created  in the zip file does not match the structure on disk.

 

I've also tried the eTramsit feature in SSM, and am getting similar, but different results.  More files are grabbed, but not all of them, and the directory structure in the zip is even more messed up.

 

There's a half a terabyte free on the drive, so space for the zip can't be an issue.

 

Any ideas?

Can't add contours to a surface

I'm not sure if installing the Service Pack 2 had anything to do with this but earlier this morning I created a surface in a drawing with no difficulties.  Around lunch I installed the service pack.  Since then I can create a surface but not add any contours to it.  They just don't show up.  It also will not allow me to delete any surfaces.  It says it's going to delete them but they never disappear.  I've tried rebooting a couple times but having the same issues.

 

Any thoughts?

Graphics performance worse in 2015 than 2014

Attached is screen shot of the exact same item as displayed in X-Ray mode in AutoCAD 2014 and 2015.  The X-Ray settings are exactly the same for both versions; same computer, same graphics card.  In 2015 it actually looks better with Hardware Acceleration turned off.  Smoothline Display is turned off but it looks the same with it turned on.  (Smoothline Display is kind of a joke anyway because it throws everything out of focus - it's smooth, just out of focus.)

 

Why does it look so much better in 2014?  Is there some setting I’m forgetting or unaware of in 2015?

 

Furthermore, it seems that everyday operations like move, copy, etc. are a bit slower in 2015.  No I haven't timed it and done a measured test, I just use autocad hours a day and have a sense that it's slower in 2015.

 

I have to say this one of the reasons I resisted subscription for so long.  So called “improvements” frequently aren’t.

 

Between this and the not snapping to correct points, I must say I'm kind of disappointed with my subscription choice.  Likely not to renew.

 

Frustrating.

AutoCAD Raster Design Insertion WIzard does not work

Using the 'Insert' Command that comes the the Raster Design tools I discovered that I cannot enter placement coordinates (X,Y,Z) when inserting an image.

 

This is bad bug. Can someone help.

How to create a Bill of Materials for Valves?

The valves are denominated as V26.01 and for each valve I have its description, equipment specification, manufacturer, supplier, etc.

 

- How can I add a Bill od Materials that has all of this information in AutoCAD Mechanical 2013?

 

The company I work for uses P&ID for valves. But they are trying to see if this can be applied in AC Mechanical . Also, I am new to AutoCAD, any information is very much appreciated.

Pointlight and Spotlight does not work in AutoCAD 2015

I am having problems with Autocad 2015 with pointlight and spotlight. When rendered it shows black even when the intensity is adjusted. It works perfectly in 2013 and 14.
