I installed the free educational version of AutoCAD from the website and everything worked ok until one day the application wouldn't let me in and instead a message that salid "Problem loading AcBrandRes.dll resource file" appeared. I tried to uninstall AutoCAD by uninstalling all the Autodesk programs from my computer and deleting all the files that had anything to do with Autodesk but now that I want to reinstall AutoCAD, it won't let me. Please someone tell me what to do to reinstall the program.

I want to create an array of thousands of squares (geometry can be a block).  Those need to fit within a large circle.  I don't want partial squares, so is it possible to have AutoCAD create this?

I'm using a lot point cloud data form modeling, drafting... and also to create some inspection as:

-Verticality inspection (compare a vertical plan to point cloud building facade)

-Horizontality inspection - floor flatness (point cloud of a floor compare to a horizontal plan)

-Tank inspection (cylinder to point cloud)

-Column / beam deformation (object reference compare to the point cloud)

-etc

I'm using 3D Reshaper which do a great job but I would be interested if there is any software form autodesk which could do the same?

in autocad 2015 there was a small cube on top-right corner denoting faces(left,right,top) and outside that box there was a circle denoting directions(N,E,W,s) .how can i get that back in autocad 2016.

I am using AutoCad 2015.  I am struggling to union 2 objects. One of the objects was created by others (so not sure what design package they used). I have added a solid that I want to union, but AutoCad is unable to union these 2 objects. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

When I get sent a drawing to add to, sometimes I need to change the layer colours to white which is straight forward, but the problem is that they then print white not black. If I select an object and chage it to white it will print black which is as I would expect.

So the question is how do I change the layer colour to white so it will print black automatically?

I currently have an issue when exporting 3D DWF files from AutoCAD, the export adds the number of objects on each layer next to the layer name e.g. If I have a layer called 'Windows' with 5 objects on the layer name changes to 'Windows (5)'

Is there a way to export the files as a 3D DWF without it referencing to the number of objects on that layer?

Just as an explanation as to why I need the layer to not contain this info;

I am importing these DWF files into Synchro so that I can prepare 4D models, the initial import works really well as the DWF files are really small. The 4D model often needs to be updated when the design is changed therefore I need to import an updated model with the new design.

As an example if I make changes to the windows and add a new feature the layer name changes from 'Windows (5)' to 'Windows (6)' but this then means that when imported into synchro it no longer recognises this layer and thinks it is a new object.

Summary - I need a way to export very small files from AutoCAD which keep the same layer name no matter what has changed within that layer.

Any help or suggestions would be great!

When plotting a file not everything plots in AutoCAD 2016. I never ahd this problem in earlier versons of this software. All objects are tuned on and on the same layer.

We are having issues launching Autocad 2006 LDD on our network. Without admin privilidgesthe software will not launch at all. We tried running a process monitor to see if certain places on the local disk/registry/network did not have sufficient privilidges (as we have done for multiple other softwares) but were given no instances of access being denied. LDD will how ever launch if the users have local admin privlidges. We have tried to create a local admin account that would launch from the LDD exe (launching only LDD as an admin, and nothing else) but have had no luck with this either.

Does anyone have any ideas or have similar issue with a older version of autocat on Windows 7 ? Does this have something to do with certain windows updates? I know Virtual XP will not launch with out admin privilidges or the removal of certain windows updates (which we have done before) that allow it to launch as a regular user.

If anyone has any tips or ideas it would be much appreciated.

I have a client that is requesting the dwg file that includes all of the details for a particular sheet, with no external references, plus individual dwg files for each detail on that sheet.  This will be a requirement for each phase of the design.

I have created the detail sheets and externally referenced the individual detail dwg files into their appropriate sheets.  To meet the requirement of no external refernces I then bound each of the external references for each sheet.  Since the details will change throughout the design phase, is there a better way I can update the individual detail dwg files, have them referenced into the sheet dwg file and be able to provide the sheet file to the client without any external references?  (i.e. Can I bind an entire dwg file at one time, instead of binding each individual x-ref within that file?)  Any other suggestions?

I have inserted an image into a drawing, and I have made it transparent. I want to draw lines over this drawing, but my problem is that when I select lines which share the same space as the image, the image is selected which (in turn) removes the transparency of the image and doesn't even allow me to work with the lines because all I am able to see is the image.

Anything I'm doing wrong or not aware of? 

Did I add the image improperly?

I am using FabCAD 2014 which uses the AutoCAD engine. When I mirror some objects, the dimensions I have placed sometimes move from one point on the object to another nearby point. the attached file shows this. Up top is the frame for a gate with a 308" opening and a 36" tail.

I copied it below and mirrored it, erasing the original as part of the mirror command. The 36" dimension has move from the outside of the rail to the inside and is now 34"; likewise the 308" dimension has changed to the inside and become 306"! The geometry is unchanged but the mirror has moved my dimension point.

this error has been replicatd on another machine running FabCAD. I spoke to FaCAD technical support, but they said that it must be in the AutoCAD engine.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

We currently have our detail views in paperspace only. Model space is empty for all of our detail template files. Nearly all of our details are not drawn to scale, nor are they accurate to their own proportions. All dimensions for the details are on override. The reason for this is that when we import these paperspace details into new sheets on separate civil dwgs, we do not want the model space from the detail templates interfering with the civil model space. This is why the detail template files are drawn in paperspace.

Is there a way to draw all details in model space, link to paperspace with viewports, and then import the paperspace with all the viewports into another document without the model space tagging along and throwing itself all over the new documents model space.

Basically I want to draw our details in model space so they are accurate and easy to change, then viewport them to paperspace. I then want to copy/import the paperspace into another document, but I do not want the model space to come with it. If model space does tag along with the viewports, then they will overlay on top of the existing documents model. Any suggestions on how to somehow achieve this or a similar result?

I started making a tool palette a while ago and recently I added some additional block.  For some reason the images for the new blocks are drawn white and the old blocks are black.  I would like these images to match.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I have a problem with AutoCAD 2016. I have attached a JPG file to show.

Left side looks ok but, when I "HIDE" command, it looks like right side. These are made with ellipse, it is only doing it when there are ellipse.

Anybody knows how to fix?

What I would like to do is create a rectangle array with a block, say a rectangle of size 1x1.  Now for each instance, I want the rectangle to grow by say .025, so the last instances woudl be for a 10 x 10 matrix, 1.25 x 1.25 and the 5th instance 1.125.

Is this possible?
