Pspace Polygon Vports Not Shown Correctly

Hi,

When ever I have a polygon paperspace vport that is placed on a layer that is turned off and I click to activate it, there is an incorrect outline of the polygon vport that shows up on the graphic screen.  This problem does not occur with rectangular pspace vports.

 

I'm experiencing this problem on both AutoCAD 2014 & 2015.  On AutoCAD 2010, running the same hardware is fine.

I've tested this on both the following recommended graphics cards:

Card name: NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600 with 758 MB Ram
Driver version: 9.18.13.1106
Tuning Date: 3/24/2014
Virtual device: Dx9 (Hardware)
                The card and driver meets the recommended requirement.
Card name: NVIDIA Quadro 2000 with 1 GB Ram

Getting OSOPTIONS to snap to intersections

I was playing with AutoCAD today to improve performance until AMD releases updated drivers for AutoCAD 2015 and I seem to have broken the OSOPTIONS system variable.

We normally have the OSOPTIONS system variable set to "2" (only ignoring negative Z values).  It is occasionally useful to snap to a hatch pattern, but I changed the OSOPTIONS system variable to "3" to ignore hatches for now because passing over a hatch mid-command bogs the computer down for many seconds, sometimes over a minute.

Tiring of switching back and forth today, I added this to my startup LISP so I could toggle quickly back and forth:
(DEFUN C:HS ()(if (= 3 (getvar "OSOPTIONS"))(setvar "OSOPTIONS" 2)(setvar "OSOPTIONS" 3))(PRINC))

However, now when I try to set it back to no longer ignore hatch objects, the osnaps for midpoints and endpoints are the only ones that show up -- none for intersections or any other snaps anymore.

I tried setting it to the default of 7 and also 0 before resetting it back to 2.  I tried going through the options dialog to change it back that way, but still it won't snap to intersections anymore.  My Object Snap options show intersections checked and intersections for non-hatches still work (see attachments below).

Is there a way to reset this back to how it's supposed to be?

Dimensions/ Angles

Hello All, 

 

I am trying to draw dimensions only a very annoying line keeps showing up for my angles. I want the line in between what I am measuring to disappear and leave only the arrows on the outside and the degrees.  I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get it to disappear with no luck. Any suggstions. Any help is very much appreciated!!

 

I have attached an image with what I would like to get rid of

Which CUIX is used for ShortCut menus

I have a robust installation of AutoCAD MEP. There are 6 or 7 CUIX files involved. I have added a 'shortcut' menu section to my 'Main' cuix (as defined by Options) but it does not display, either when I right click with nothing selected nor when I have something selected. I have also tried adding this Shortcut Menu to a Partially Loaded CUIX, that doesnt help either.

 

Where does AutoCAD look for shortcut menus? And in what order will it put them (doesn't seem to be in Workspace customization)?

 

Basically I just want a certain shortcut menu to display whenever a right click happens. How do I get there?

Error when printing with the plotter directly

When I plot using adobe pdf printer everything goes well, and the pdf document is created, but when I send the document to the plotter (HP desinget 800Ps 42) directly  a warning appeares (showed in the screenshot below) and the printing operation is terminated. How to fix this issue??

Program scheduling in-coming projects for drafters

I am looking for a program that can be scheduled to our drafter more effectively than a excel spread sheet. We currently used to schedule all in-coming projects on an excel spread sheet that is mainting and update by our drafter.

 

Beside an excel spread sheet and MS projects, what is other program you use to schedule?

Cannot Use My Binoculars (Content Explorer)

Hey All,

 

I am having a slight problem, which at the moment is preventing me from using the Simpson AutoCAD menu, which for Residential Architecture detailing is a must.

 

At the moment, I am not able to use my Content Explorer, therefore cannot see my Simpson Menu.

 

When I hit my Binocs, I get this image:

When I hit "View Details," to see what the problem is, I get this.

I have tried use CUILOAD to unload the Content Explorer and reload it, and I've also unloaded it, restarted AutoCAD and then come back to load it back up and nothing. 

 

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

Sheet Set User Permissions/Restrictions over Network

Hello there, 

 

Usually I am able to find answers, but not in this case.  Our office works off a server, and I created a AutoCAD 2014 Sheet Set and dropped the .dst file on the network, which I am able to open and modify.  I allowed the domain users full control of the .dst file, but my team member is not able to open or load the file stored in the network.  I closed the Sheet Set file but he is still not able to load the file.  

 

I am wondering if there are user restrictions on Sheet Set files?  Also, can two people have the .dst file open (maybe one that is Read-Only)?  I am new to Sheet Set creation, and would appreciate any guidance.

Viewport boundary being shown in Xref - how to switch this off??

Its very simple. We have a certain drawing that when we xref in dwg's is also brings in all the viewport boundaries. It has nothing to do with layers or line types etc. The view ports in model space dont print either it just making the drawing difficult to use.

 

I know there is a command to switch this off. So far we have spent an hour googling it. Can anyone help out.

Ending command Measuregeom

Hello dear reader. I have used few days my new Autocad 2014 LT- version and one thing is particularly annoying me. It is measuring. I press the button, command measuregeon starts, i measure and after that i press right mouse button or Enter. Neither of these previously worked ways are now useable. I have to press Esc in order to finish measuring. Really annoying. Once again, why fix something that is not broken?

 

Is there any way i can finish Measuregeom except Esc? Is there some other command that works like measuring used to do?

Attribute block problem

Hi,

I have an attribute block and there are few inserts of this block in the drawing. I want to make the block bigger by redefining it, not by scaling the inserts.
So,
- I explode the block,
- scale all the objects inside the block by 2
- redefine the block

- then I type ATTSYNC command and select one block.

 

But i find that the attribute block inserts are not getting updated. Why?
I have attached the test dwg herewith.

Latest Machining Symbols in Annotations

Hi

 

In Inventor after using the Hole command you can use the Hole/Thread Notes command to present your hole information to the latest standards, in this case BS8888:2013. 

 

Could someone tell me if it is possible to quickly do the same in AutoCAD 2014 or would I have to create my own suite or set of standards for this to happen. I have attached an image of what I am attempting to re-create in AutoCAD for those mechanical designers not on Inventor.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Layer Properties Manager

Running AutoCAD 2007 on Vista. Suddenly, clicking on layers property manager or typing Layer on command line results in a fatal exception and AutoCAD is forced to close. Help?

I am using -ATTEDIT in script in order to change the drawing name in the titleblock.

I don´t know what the current value is, I want to change whatever it is to a new one.

What I get is new name appended to the old name.

Is there a way to replace the old value with a new one?

Command: -ATTEDIT

Edit attributes one at a time? [Yes/No] <Y>: n

Edit only attributes visible on screen? [Yes/No] <Y>: n

Enter block name specification <*>: MyBlock

Enter attribute tag specification <*>: MyTag

Enter attribute value specification <*>: I don´t know! I want to erase that! I hit Enter!

1 attributes selected.
Enter string to change: I don´t know! I want to erase that!
Enter new string: New Name

Result: New Name+Old Value.

 

What I want is just New name.

I would like recover originally tool from autocad 2012.

ARG Export Not Saving[2014

Hi All, I'm trying to create an ARG file, I've customized the file locations, colours etc... Applied and then Exported. However when I Import the profile and Set Current everything goes back to defaults, and yet when I click back on to the one created its all good. Any ideas why the Export isn't working? I've tried it in AC 2014 & 2012 I'm hoping I've missed something! Thanks

Using Object Snap and relative coordinates

When making a rectangle, one length is often known while the other is based on other objects in the drawing (think of a 1" wide flat bar whose length matches something in the drawing).

 

After picking the base point, can I locate the 2nd point using object snap (.x) for the length and than relative dimension (y = 1" from base y) for width.  I can't figure it out on my own.

2014 - Wblock base point

I have a large drawing from a client, I was breaking it up by wblocking out similar elements. If I find I had missed an additional similar element I wblocked it out also and tried inserting into the other previously wblocked out set of elements. But they were coming in in the wrong place.

 

Having done a little research, I find i needed to open the created dwg and set insbase to 0,0 as a work around. but i'm inserting in into a dwg that was also created by wblock. And the 0,0 appears to be in some arbitrary place. 

 

What in the world is going on here? I haven't used ACAD regularly in a number of years, but this seems like it should be a big deal to a lot of people. How in the world do I get all of my blocks of elements back into the same relative places?

 

I'm all about improvement! And I would love to hear the thought process behind this one. Thanks.
