Undefined shape # on refresh after purging missing shx
First of all, hello to the community! This'll be my first post on these forums, but i've been using them quite a lot to answer my problems with CAD. Lots of respect for everyone here.
So I have this singular problem and haven't been able to find someone else that had a similar experience. It all started with my desire to remove the "missing shx file" notification we have on almost every CAD drawing we do. It's mostly due to the fact we re-use a lot of old drawings as a base for similar projects and at some point, one of those was a file from outside and those pesky shx files didn't come with it and now we're stuck with them. It's mainly just an annoyance, but I'm trying to fix the mess by creating a clean, useful template. So today I decided to tackle that problem and get rid of the notification.
I looked on the web, didn't find much here, but on other sites, there was a lisp routine that apparently did just that : Link Given, it is dated almost 5 years ago, but the article sin't that old and still referencing it, so I tried. Course I first had to figure out lisp routines, and learned in the process that LT version can't run lisp routines. Fortunatly, we still have a full version of 2011 installed, exactly for stuff like that so I opened my future template in 2011, ran the routine, and this is what the console gave me :
Command: pshx Change mtqroman.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change romansf.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change romansf.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change romansf.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change SASB____.pfb on ltypeshp.shx Change TECHCAD.SHX on ltypeshp.shx Change TECHCAD.SHX on ltypeshp.shx Change mtqroman.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change CADARP.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change mtq.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change C:\Users\bemond\Documents\talus_shape.shx on ltypeshp.shx Change C:\Users\bemond\Documents\Xshape.shx on ltypeshp.shx
Now first of all, those 2 last lines meant that the routine did something to my custom shapes, which are not missing. So I REFRESHed to see the changes and as I thought, the custom lines containing my custom shapes were back to continuous. Reloading the line definition fixed that problem, but now everytime I refresh, I get 80+ "undefined shape #xx". I saved the routined drawing to a different name I'll call "test" here and kept the original. Things seem to be happening differently for me than other users :
1) Opening the test drawing doesn't give me any notification about shx files. Opening the original still does. So far so good.
2) Refreshing the test drawing, wether in 2011 or 2014 LT, gives me "undefined shape #". Refreshing original does not, even when both are openend at the same time.
3) If I open the test drawing in 2014 LT, and then try to reload my lines, it throws me an error that the line definition of every linetype using shapes in the original acadiso.lin is wrong. I cannot reload those line. My custom_lines.lin can be reloaded without any problem. Now thats more of a problem.
4) Same problem as 3) happens when I try to reload lines in my original drawing AFTER I open the test drawing. Problem persists even after closing test drawing, but is fixed on autoCAD restart.
5) problems 3) and 4) don't happen on 2011 full version.
6) I don't have any problem writing text, there are no intrusive error messages, but i noticed in my Style manager that some style reference to ltypeshp.shx as the font and there is a little yellow triangle on it.
It obviously have something to do with the routine messing with the ltypeshp.shx file somehow, but I dunno how or why. I just wanted to get rid of everything referencing to missing shx.
So, anyone knows what's going on here? Since I can still work on the original without any problem, it's not dramatic, but I'd really like to know what didn't work.
Thank you.
Where are eTransmit "Transmittal Setups" stored when using Sheet Set Manager?
If you are not using Sheet Set Manager, the eTransmit "Transmittal Setups" are found in the Registry here:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R19.1\ACAD-D006:409\ETransmit\setups\Record Documents]
But where are they saved when you access eTransmit through SSM? The list of Setups found in that eTransmit command is different than the list of Setups in my Registry that appear when you invoke eTransmit by the command line.
2014 Missing Toolbars
My 2014 ACAD toolbars disappeared! Nether the ribbon TOOLBARS or the Menu Bar/Tools/Toolbars display the AutoCAD or ACAD toolbar list. And when I right click in the sidebar of either express tools or custom toolbars I get the AutoCAD line. But clicking it givers me ONLINE and no list.
I've tried restarting and as mentioned reloading the menu but no dice. The CUI says the toolbars are still there but I can't get them to display.

Inserting a vertex to to a line object in the AutoCAD,
Inserting a vertex to to a line object in the AutoCAD,
I couldn’t figure out how a vertex is inserted to a line object in the AutoCAD.
I found out that there is a built in tool by which a vertex can be inserted to a polyline (attached) but not sure how this can be implemented to the line object. In other software like the ArcGIS, inserting a vertex is straight forward (attached)
Thank you

OLE Object - Scaling issue when zooming/printing
Have numerous AutoCAD drawings with a OLE object associated to different PDFs. When you zoom or print the information, the OLE object is changing its scale. If you perform a zoom extents, the drawing looks fine. If you output the drawing, the OLE information is scaled/zoomed wrong. If you look at a print preview it is correct until you zoom in/out while in the (print) preview.
Someone indicated the problem is related to Adobe Reader 11 and to uninstall it and just use Adobe Acrobat..
However that didn't resolve the issue either. Any other thoughts?
I can reproduce this issue in AutoCAD 2013, 2104 and 2015.
Invisible Text Layer
Has anyone delt with an Invisible layer. I had a drawing crash on me and now one of my text layers is invisible in all versions of the drawing; DWG, BAK, Recover and SV$
MTEXT Layer: "historic_markers_MText"
Space: Model space
Invisible
Material: Sitework.Planting.Gravel.Mixed
Handle = 16e0e
Style = "Standard"
Annotative: No
Location: X=644364.73 Y=797896.64 Z= 0.00
Width: 1498.09
Normal: X= 0.00 Y= 0.00 Z= 1.00
Rotation: 0d0'0"
Text height: 100.00
Line spacing: Multiple (1.000000x = 166.67)
Attachment: BottomRight
Flow direction: ByStyle
Contents: The First Courthouse
I don't know how it got that Material assigned but changing it or setting a shaded ViewStyle doesn't get it to show.

EDITTEXT exits command after editing one MULTILINETEXT
In AutoCAD 2014 I was able to type "ED" (my alias for EDITTEXT), hit enter, and the command would stay active untile I hit enter again. I could fix a mutliline string, or single string, and click outside of the parameters of the text while still being in the EDITTEXT command. In 2015 it exits the command after every string I type in. Is there a default/option I can change to fix this?
Batch Plot to PDF lighter lineweights CAD 2015
Hi, I'm running into an odd plotting issue when using batch plot. When I batch plot using the "publish to PDF" the result is that the lineweights are lighter then when I plot the files individually. I've tried "publish to plotter named in page setup" and the files plot correctly, but it asks for the "save PDF file as" after each drawing which kinda defeats the purpose of batch plotting. Does anyone know a way to setup the default PDF to plot exactly whats on the layout with the correct plot style?
The image on the left is what the PDF is supposed to look like. The image on the right is the result of batch plot using the "publish to PDF" option. The difference might be subtle on the screen but when printing its very noticeable.
Thanks in advance!

Dwg to pdf Mtext mask black boxes
Recently it was suggested that we should use The built in pdf maker "dwg to pdf.pc3" to avoid black boxes being printed from wipeouts.
That works great.
However when I created pdf's for several sheets, One of them (see attached) created black boxs from the mtext mask which was on and matched background but the wipeouts where ok.
And the strange thing is it didn't do that on all sheets. Is it the mtext setup on that sheet that cause the problem?
Thanks in advance for your support
