I have a file done in Civil3D from a surveyor. Ill call this file SURVEY.
Created a new file, in 2015LT, called BASE, and xrefed SURVEY inserted at 0,0.
Created another new file called DEMO, and xrefed BASE, inserted at 0,0 (with the nested SURVEY file).
In the DEMO file, when I snap to an endpoint of an object, the snap box finds an endpoint that is 5 ft off
from the actual endpoint of the object. It snaps to a location where there is no object (on screen) but it is telling me,
this is the endpoint. It does this for center, mid, intersection, etc.
This only happesn when snapping to an xref'd object...not newly drawn objects in the DEMO file...and happens in paper and model.
This does not happen in the BASE file, nor the SURVEY file. It happens on other computers in 2014 and 2015LT.
It is kinda hard to draw a line to an actual object point visually, without the osnap. What could be causing this?
I think this is a bug in acad 2015, like a 1000 lb cockroach.
I normally have avoided workspaces as I had other more reliable tools to move toolbars around.
Autodesk modified a menu behavior that broke the tools, so I am trying workspaces again.
So I get my toolbars all set, and save a workspace. They stay, no problem.
Then I go into the CUI to delete some test workspace I had, and the toolbars for current all dissapear.
I cannot set them back by using the worspace I saved! what a rediculous situation.
I am using OOTB menu, nothing special.
The CUI continues to be the most buggy improvement ever to afflict autocad.
I downloaded Autocad 2015 or 2016 (can't recall which one) last week. Got an email with a serial number and product key and instructions to activate the software. The instructions tell me the software should be on my desktop - it's not. The only place I see any Autocad files are on my c: drive, but none of them seem to do anything when I open them. There's no .exe file.
Any ideas? Please keep in mind that I don't know much about computers, so you may have to spell things out for me

I have attempted to write a routine that I think will draw an ellipse given the look angle I specify. Of course, Autolisp can tell I'm an amature and will have none of it. Is anyone sapient in ALISP able to take a few moments and straighten my routine out? Thank you.

We have set up Tool Pallets in order to share our standard blocks and other key features.
However, on a semi regular basis I have to fix the pallets on users computers. The pallets are either unmapping completly or there tabs are becoming unhooked from the pallet groups. This is due in part to some users working offline or unknown forces.
Is there a system variable or macro that I can insert into my ACAD.lsp or as a button that would reset/reinsert these pallets?

I MADE A BLOCK IN AUTOCAD 2015 AND ADDED DYNAMIC PROPERTIES TO IT.
AND THEN I ADDED THE BLOCK INTO ONE OF MY DRAWINGS BUT IT DOES NOT
REFLECT THE DYNAMIC PROPERTIES.
I am experiencing an issue with the DWG to PDF tool. When I plot using the DWG to PDF everything will look fine on my end. I will send the files to the architect and then when they open the file it looks like the attached picture.
Basically random text will be copied and rotated making the plans illegible.
I have realized that the issue will go away if I use the "Adobe PDF" tool in the plot menu but then I have other issues.
The attached picture is what the contractor is trying to build off of and I am not ok with sending something like this out.
I am finding my users do want to do a few tweaks to the main menu, such as the quicklaunch and making workspaces.
Now, to get acad to workl right, you need the acad.cuix as the main menu.
That is a problem though, as it is something I want the ability to tweak also, as a cad manager.
For instance, we set F12 to zoom out 0.5x.
If I realize I missed a tweak, or some new tweak is desired, I cannout overwrite the acad.cuix as to do so would wipe out the user tweaks.
How do Cad managers out there deal with this?
What is your main menu for regular autocad, and what do you do if a critical fix is needed or the user menu goes corrupt?
Does anyone go to the trouble3 of making users transfer workspaces and things, and does that even work in a stable manner?

So I am trying to draw up a bracket. The last circle is 0.563 units in the x direction from a known circle center, and it is 1.375 units away from this known circle center point. I don't have the angle or distance in the y direction. I tried offsetting a line 0.563 units then using the line command where I specify the length of the line and try to select the correct spot as an intersection. However, I can't seem to snap to the line and they never intersect in the correct spot. How do I do this properly? I took a picture, but it is not being sent to my computer to attach.
I've been reading old threads here trying to find anything that will help me purge all these excess block definitions from a file, and nothing I've seen has helped. I have hundreds of blocks named things like *U101 *U102 *D354 *D355 etc. that show up in the list of blocks that can't be purged. However, if I do a Qselect, I can't find any of these blocks in the drawing. I suspect they are appearing when we paste in things from the client that come from other versions of AutoCAD (like Civil) and sometimes use 3D objects (we use 2D-only maps).
As I understand it, using WBLOCK would function to get rid of these by copying everything else into a new file, but I can't do that as the current file is tied in to a database which stores other information about the objects. (This is a telecom map and the objects store information like addresses and cable lengths.)
Any suggestions? The file is really huge and I am looking for ways to shrink it.

so what i have is 99 different combinations that are "standard" options or combinations.
attached is a drawing with the combinations.
I know people are using lookup tables for the different "options"
in mine i have broken down the different items that i'd like to control separetly but unsure where to go from here.

So I just started learning auto cad in school and im stuck on this one assignment. So I made this entire part but cant figure out how to make that center arc with a radius of 1.25. Any suggestions on how to do this ?

Hi everyone, I am currently trying to figure out a way to paste my excel sheet directly into AutoCAD for title block and table purposes. However, the excel tables have drop down menus and when I "special paste" them or "insert table" the dont exist anymore. Is there any way I am able to keep these drop down menus active once I copy the table into AutoCAD? I have already tried inserting a table with an excel data link and have it update the cad file when changed in excel but that will not work for what this is intended to do. Attached is an example of what the title block looks like.
We have hundreds of drawings with attributed blocks which we want to extract data for a maintenance database then add info and import back into drawings.
When I use "ATTOUT" then import into excel the header order is different for every drawing so impossible to put into a common database without reordering the columns. There are 120 different headers.
Using "ATTEXT" I use a template file that sets the header order, however ATTEXT doesn't determine attributes that don't apply like ATTOUT does using <> it just leaves empty cells.
How can we define the header order using ATTOUT so it is consistant across all drawings and still get the <> for attributes that don't apply to a given block.
ATTIN needs the <> info, it doesn't work with a file generated from ATTEXT that only has empty cells which it treats as an empty attribute which it can't find and fails.
I am trying to create a matchline that has an attribute for the drawing sheet number.
I tried to insert a field with the attribute value which would array along the length of the matchline as it is being stretched.
The problem is that the fields will not update as long as they are within the dynamic block.
Is there a workaround for this?
